Sustainability

Protecting bees.
Supporting nature.

Every hive, every harvest and every school visit is part of a bigger commitment — to Ireland's pollinators and the land they keep alive.

01

Protect pollinators

Working only with the native Irish Black Honey Bee — Apis mellifera mellifera.

02

Support biodiversity

Hive locations and forage chosen to benefit the wider pollinator population.

03

Ethical practice

Calm, considered beekeeping that puts the bees first, every season.

04

Educate and share

Workshops, school talks and community programmes to spread the word.

Bee on clover

The Irish Black Honey Bee.

As members of the Irish Beekeepers Association we are committed to only promoting the Irish Black Honey Bee — Apis mellifera mellifera. There are various other bees available from other sources, but none of these will be installed in any of our sites.

It's a small but firm principle, and one that protects the genetic integrity of Ireland's native bee.
